Hi my hot tub water turn blue over night and has thin flakes, oil like substance floating on it, Can you help solve the problem?

It sounds like there could be a few things going on in your tub. Water changing color is usually as a result of a sudden chemistry change caused by a product or chemical being added. It could have even been caused by a cosmetic or lotion a bather was wearing. We cannot know for sure without a water sample and test to rule out a few things. Get the water tested ASAP.
The oil like substance is likely caused by a cosmetic introduced by bathers shocking will take care of this. Preferably use an oxidizing shock like Spa Lite or similar.
As for the flakes it could be scale that has built up from a prolonged period of higher pH and is now releasing from a pipe surface. The filter will capture it but you can use a clarifier such as Polysheen to help speed it up. You may also need to rinse out the filter if it has already caught a lot of scale build up – it may be overwhelmed. Adding a regular dose of Stain & Scale Inhibitor will also reduce and prevent further scale build-up. Hope this helped but feel free to contact us directly if you need more assistance.
